Week 4_Day 2

Morning

{Noon} {Evening}

I will raise myself up from this bed of sleep, to adore my God, and to labor for the salvation of my soul. O may I rise on the last day unto eternal life. Amen.

Repeated Stanzas (Tropars) to the Holy Trinity & Thrice Holy (Trisagion)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Having risen from sleep we worship You, O Good One, and we sing with the angels and the living creatures (the seraphim and the cherubim), a hymn to You: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord, the all-powerful God, who was and is and is coming!” (Revelation 4:8)

The Jesus Prayer

O Lord Jesus (Yeshua) Christ (the Messiah), Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Lord, Have Mercy (Kyrie Eleison)

Lord, have mercy, Christ (the Messiah) have mercy, Lord have mercy. (Luke 18:13)

I am nothing without you. I can’t do anything apart from you. I have no goodness of my own. I need you. I want you. I am desperate for you every moment of every day. Whatever I face today, whether poverty or plenty, in any situation: I can do all things through Christ (the Messiah) who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

You created my innermost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:13;16) You care for me. I am precious to You, made in Your image with honor. (Matthew 6:26; Psalms 8:4-5) You love me. (Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:9-10)

Morning Sacrifice – stand facing east toward Jerusalem and the future Temple (burn incense, light a candle, ring a bell, or sound a trumpet/shofar; have wine/juice and cracker/matzo ready)

Hear (Shema)

Listen and obey, Israel! The Lord is our God, The Lord alone! So love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you’re at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning. Write down copies and tie them to your wrists and foreheads to help you obey them. Write these laws on the door frames of your homes and on your town gates…  I command you to love others as much as you love yourself. I am the Lord.  (Deut. 6:4-9; Lev. 19:18; Luke 10:27 CEV)

The Lord’s Prayer – Expanded

The kingdom is yours! The battle is yours! The riches are yours! All our hearts are yours!

Sacrificial Gift (Korbanot)

Master of the Worlds, You commanded Israel to bring the daily offering at its appointed time; and have the priests perform their service, and the Levites to sing and play music on the platform. And now, because of Your covenant discipline, the Holy Temple is destroyed, and the daily offering discontinued; we have neither a priest at his service, nor a Levite on his platform, nor an Israelite at his station.

Think of my prayer as sweet-smelling incense, and think of my lifted hands as an evening (or morning) sacrifice. (Psalm 141:2 CEV)

Restore the service to the inner sanctuary of your Temple, and receive in love and with favor both the fire-offerings of Israel and their prayers.

Please be willing, Lord, to help the city of Zion and to rebuild its walls. Then you will be pleased with the proper sacrifices, and we will offer bulls on your altar once again. (Psalm 51:18-19)

The Great Thanksgiving (Eucharist)

All glory be unto You, Almighty God, our Father in heaven, for You, of Your tender mercy, did give your only Son Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah to suffer death on the cross for our redemption; who made there by His one oblation of himself once offered, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction, for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of his precious death and sacrifice, until His coming again. Amen.

Confession of Sin & Absolution

Let us bow and humbly confess our sins to Almighty God:

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Take a moment to confess individual sins that come to mind.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and with true faith turn to him, have mercy upon us, pardon and deliver us from all your sins, confirm and strengthen us in all goodness, and bring us to everlasting life; through Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah our Lord. Amen.

We hear the words of our Lord, “Your sins are forgiven. Go: and sin no more.”

Blessing over the Wine (raise the cup and recite)

We bless You, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who creates the fruit of the vine. As we drink let us be filled with the knowledge of your sacrifice that our deeds may imitate the One who offers forgiveness through His blood; Who has given us the Way to deliverance from the wrath to come in Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah. Amen.

Blessing over the Bread (raise the bread or cracker and break)

We bless You, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth. We give you thanks, our Father, for the life and knowledge which You made known to us through Your Son Jesus (Yeshua). Yours is the glory forever and ever. As this broken bread was scattered upon the mountains (as seed) and gathered together as one bundle of wheat, so may Your assembly be gathered together from the ends of the earth into Your kingdom. For Yours is the glory and the power through Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah forever and ever. Amen. (Didache)

Song of a Biblical Text

Song of the Three

We praise You, O Lord, God of our fathers, and worthy of praise; and Your name is glorified forever. For You are just in all that you have done to us, and all Your works are true and thy ways right, and all Your judgments are truth.

You have executed true judgments in all that You have brought upon us and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers, for in truth and justice you have brought all this upon us because of our sins. For we have sinfully and lawlessly departed from You, and have sinned in all things and have not obeyed Your commandments; we have not observed them or done them, as You have commanded us that it might go well with us.

So all that You have brought upon us, and all that You have done to us, You have done in true judgment. You have given us into the hands of lawless enemies, most hateful rebels, and to an unjust king, the most wicked in all the world. And now we cannot open our mouths; shame and disgrace have befallen Your servants and worshipers.

For Your name’s sake do not give us up completely, and do not break Your covenant, and do not withdraw Your mercy from us, for the sake of Abraham Your most loved and for the sake of Isaac Your servant and Israel Your holy one, to whom You did promise to make their descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the sand on the shore of the sea.

For we, O Lord, have become fewer than any nation, and are brought low this day in all the world because of our sins. And at this time there is no prince, or prophet, or leader, no burnt offering, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, no place to make an offering before You or to find mercy.

Yet with a contrite heart and a humble spirit may we be accepted, as though it were with burnt offerings of rams and bulls, and with tens of thousands of fat lambs; such may our sacrifice be in Your sight this day, and may we wholly follow You, for there will be no shame for those who trust in You.

And now with all our heart we follow You, we fear You and seek Your face. Do not put us to shame, but deal with us in Your patience and in Your abundant mercy. Deliver us in light of Your works we marvel at, and give glory to Your name, O Lord!

Let all who do harm to Your servants be put to shame; let them be disgraced and deprived of all power and dominion, and let their strength be broken. Let them know that You are the Lord, the only God, glorious over the whole world. (Song of the Three 1:3-22)

Scripture Reading

Torah Portion – follow the daily Torah portion for the week.

Out of Zion shall come forth the Torah (Law), and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Blessed are You, Lord our God, who gave the Torah (Law) to His people Israel in holiness.

Scripture Prayer – Consecration

…the Scriptures were written to teach and encourage us by giving us hope. God is the one who makes us patient and cheerful. I pray that he will help you live at peace with each other, as you follow Christ (the Messiah). Then all of you together will praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus (Yeshua) Christ (the Messiah). (Romans 15:4-6 CEV)

Pray this scripture for yourself and specific names of others.

For the Saints and Faithfully Departed

We give thanks to You, O Lord our God, for all Your servants and witnesses of time past: for Abraham, the father of believers, and Sarah his wife; for Moses, the lawgiver, and Aaron, the priest, for Miriam and Joshuah, Deborah and Gideon, and Samuel with Hannah his mother, for Isaiah and all the prophets; for Mary the mother of our Lord, for Peter and Paul and all the apostles; for Mary and Martha, and Mary Magdalene; for Stephen, the martyr, and all the martyrs and holy people in every age and in every land. In Your mercy, O Lord, our God, give us, as You gave to them, the Hope of salvation and the promise of eternal life; through Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah our Lord, the first-born of many from the dead. Amen.

Prayer for Protection

O Lord, Lover of men, and by Your loving-kindness I strive to do Your work today, and I ask You: help us at all times, in everything, and deliver us from every evil grief and distress of heart, and every attack of the devil, surround us by Your holy angels, that we may be guarded and guided, and lead me into Your eternal Kingdom. For You are my Creator, the Giver and Provider of everything good, and all my hope is in You, and to You I send up glory, now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Come, Creator Spirit (Veni Creator Spiritus)

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator come, from your bright heavenly throne! Come, take possession of our souls, and make them all your own. Far from us drive our hellish foe, true peace unto us bring, and through all perils guide us safe beneath your sacred wing. Through you may we the Father know, through you the eternal Son and you the Spirit of them both, three times blessed, three in One.

Benediction

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus (Yeshua) Christ (the Messiah), who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father. (Galatians 1:3-4)

Creed

I believe (trust) in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in (obey) one Lord, Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah,
the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, being of one essence with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation (from the wrath to come), he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe (trust) in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.I believe in (acknowledge) one, holy, universal and apostolic assembly. (the coming Commonwealth of Israel)
I confess one baptism (of repentance) for the forgiveness of sins
and I wait for the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Baptism Questions  (Remembering your baptism: you may want to dip your hand or fingers in a bowl of water and recite these again)

Do you renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of wickedness that rebel against God?

I renounce them

Do you renounce the evil powers of this world which corrupt and destroy the creatures of God?

I renounce them

Do renounce all sinful desires that draw you from the love of God, and that are deserving of the coming wrath of God?

I renounce them

Do you put your whole trust in the mercy and forgiveness of God shown to you through the sacrifice of the Messiah?

I do

Do you promise to be loyal to Him no matter what may come, whether persecution or death?

I do

Do you promise to follow and obey Him as your Lord, the coming King of Israel, who will reward and resurrect your body on that Day to live on the restored earth?

I do

We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation. Through it you led the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt into the land of promise. In it Your Son Jesus (Yeshua) received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit as the Messiah, to lead us, through his death and resurrection, from the bondage of sin into everlasting life.

We thank you, Father, for the water of baptism. In it we are buried with the Messiah in His death. By it we will share in His bodily resurrection, and will be reborn by the Holy Spirit. We receive now a deposit of the powers of that coming age. Therefore in joyful obedience to Your Son, we bring into His fellowship those who come to HIm in faith, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Now set apart this water, we pray, by the power of the Holy Spirit, that those who are cleansed from sin may continue forever unto the risen life of Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah our Savior. Amen.

Song of the Bible

2 Timothy Hymn

If we died with Christ (the Messiah), we will live with him. If we don’t give up, we will rule with him. If we deny that we know him, he will deny that he knows us. If we are not faithful, he will still be faithful. Christ (the Messiah) cannot deny who he is. (2 Timothy 2:11-13 CEV)

Scripture Prayer – Redemption

Lord God of heaven, you are great and fearsome. And you faithfully keep your promises to everyone who loves you and obeys your commands. I am your servant, so please have mercy on me and answer the prayer that I make day and night for these people of Israel who serve you. I, my family, and the rest of your people have sinned by choosing to disobey you and the laws and teachings you gave to your servant Moses. Please remember the promise you made to Moses. You told him that if we were unfaithful, you would scatter us among foreign nations. But you also said that no matter how far away we were, we could turn to you and start obeying your laws. Then you would bring us back to the place where you have chosen to be worshiped. Our Lord, I am praying for your servants—those you rescued by your great strength and mighty power. (Neh. 1:5-10 CEV)

Pray this scripture for Israel and specific names of people.

Concluding Prayer

Almighty and everliving God, let Your fatherly hand ever be over your servants; let Your Holy Spirit ever be with us; and so lead us in the knowledge and obedience of Your Word, that we may serve You in this life, and dwell with You in the life to come; through Jesus (Yeshua) the Messiah our Lord. Amen.

Bedtime Prayer

O Lord our God, in Your goodness and love for mankind forgive me all the sins I have committed this day in thought, word, or deed. Grant me a peaceful and calm sleep. Send your guardian angels to guard and protect me from all evil. For You are the defender of our souls and bodies, and we send up glory to You – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and forever unto ages of ages. Amen.
